Chris Frick is a contemporary abstract artist based in Charleston, South Carolina. Born in Germany, she holds a Master’s degree in Gallo-Romance Studies and English. The relationship between language, place, and identity is central to her art.
Frick’s work is shaped by migration and cultural reorientation. She works primarily with acrylic.
Her current body of work is structured around three ongoing series: Ripple, Lowcountry, and The Other Side. Ripple follows an inner process of rupture and rebuilding. Lowcountry is inspired by the tidal flows, the shifting skies, and the raw textures of the South Carolina coast. The Other Side begins where the familiar ends – it’s about going all in, stepping into the unknown, and what remains after everything changes.
Frick’s paintings are held in private collections in Germany and the United States. Her work is currently on view at Simpatico Gallery in Charleston and was featured in the September issue of Artist Talk Magazine.
