About the artist
Chris Frick
I am a German-born abstract artist living and working in Charleston, South Carolina.
Moving to the United States in 2024 marked the beginning of a new direction in my painting.
My work is organized into three interconnected bodies of work that continue to develop alongside one another.
The Other Side reflects the challenges and discoveries that come with building a life in a new country.
Lowcountry is inspired by the coastal region of South Carolina. Rather than painting the landscape itself, I paint what stays with me from living in this environment.
Place and Figure brings these ideas into the human figure. The figures express how the places we live and our experiences become part of us, carrying both their weight and their beauty.
